Months after the previous film Boyka: Undisputed IV, Yuri Boyka is now a free man with a manager named Kiril, continuing to participate in underground fights in Kyiv, Ukraine. During one match, Boyka accidentally kills his opponent, Viktor, which leads him to reflect on the purpose of his fighting. Upon learning that Viktor has a wife, Alma, Boyka instructs Kiril to arrange a fake passport and travels to Russia to meet her. In the town of Drovny, he discovers that Alma is in debt to a crime boss named Zourab, who runs an underground fighting club where she works as a waitress.
Zourab is on the lookout for skilled fighters for his club, and Boyka sees an opportunity to help Alma by striking a deal with Zourab to fight in exchange for her freedom. Zourab agrees, proposing that Boyka compete in three matches. Alma invites Boyka to the community center for training, where he swiftly wins his first match and then defeats two brothers in the second match with a double knockout. During their time together, Boyka questions Alma about her reluctance to leave the town, to which she explains that she cannot abandon the children at the center, fearing they might turn to a life of crime.
In the third bout, Boyka triumphs over Igor Kazmir, Zourab’s top enforcer. Just as Boyka intends to leave, Zourab compels him to face one final opponent, his so-called true champion. Reluctantly, Boyka consents. Zourab then corrupts a senior police officer to bring Koshmar, a massive and relentless fighter, to his venue. Zourab believes Boyka stands no chance against Koshmar’s imposing physique. However, after a fierce confrontation, Boyka manages to break Koshmar’s arm and leg, ultimately sending him out of the ring, unconscious.
In a fit of rage, Zourab takes Alma hostage and commands his men to eliminate Boyka, but Boyka swiftly dispatches all of Zourab’s henchmen and pursues him. Despite being shot, Boyka seizes Zourab and strangles him to death. Injured, Boyka seeks Alma’s forgiveness for his actions against Viktor before being apprehended by the police. Six months later, Alma visits Boyka in prison, revealing that she has finally forgiven him. Boyka remains determined to continue fighting in prison, aiming for the title of the world’s most complete martial artist.

This film Boyka: Undisputed IV serves as a sequel to Undisputed III: Redemption, which was released in 2010, and marks the fourth entry in the Undisputed series. Scott Adkins returns to portray the character Yuri Boyka.
The film was initially referred to as Undisputed IV during its development. Isaac Florentine, who directed the second and third films, was expected to return but chose to step down to care for his ailing wife, although he stayed on as a producer. The directing role was taken over by Todor Chapkanov, who had recently worked on the second unit for London Has Fallen. The series introduced a new fight choreographer, Tim Mann, who had previously collaborated with Adkins on Ninja: Shadow of a Tear, following J.J. Perry and Larnell Stovall from the earlier installments.
Alon Moni Aboutboul, known for his role as the main antagonist in London Has Fallen, portrays the mob boss Zourab in this film. Boyka: Undisputed also marks the feature film debut of British bodybuilder Martyn Ford, who stands at 6 feet 8 inches and weighs 325 pounds. His character, Koshmar, translates to “Nightmare” in Russian, a nickname he adopted after the film’s release.
Filming took place at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Bulgaria, starting on June 29, 2015, and wrapping up on July 31. On November 10, 2015, it was confirmed that post-production had been completed. The film Boyka: Undisputed IV is dedicated to Danny Lerner, a veteran producer at Nu Image, who passed away during the pre-production phase.
The film made its debut at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, on September 22, 2016, and was subsequently released in select Middle Eastern theaters on July 27, 2017.
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment launched the film in the United States on Blu-ray and DVD on August 1, 2017, titled Boyka: Undisputed IV.
At the 2017 Shanghai Film Festival, Boyka: Undisputed IV received the Best Fight Award, and Scott Adkins was honored with the Jackie Chan Best Action Movie Actor Award for his role as Yuri Boyka.
A television series continuing the Undisputed movie franchise has been announced, produced by the original producer Millennium in collaboration with London-based sales company Empire Films.
